Look who knows us!

After reading a December 26, 2003, polygamy article in The Washington Blade about the founder of TruthBearer.org, the Family Research Council posted its own polygamy article, "The Slippery Slope, Next Installment", by Peter Sprigg (as one of the segments on that page). The aricle specifically referred to the Founder of the TruthBearer organization by name.

They know that the TruthBearer organization is moving forward! By March 17, 2004, the Family Research Council began alerting "everyone" that we are indeed organizing toward the advance of "polygamy rights."

In the July 16, 2007, issue of the New York Times, an article, titled, When 3 really is A crowd.", noted, "As one advocate of polygamy argued in Newsweek, 'If Heather can have two mommies, she should also be able to have two mommies and a daddy.'. That quoted "one advocate" was TruthBearer.org's founder, Mark Henkel, in the March 20, 2006, issue of Newsweek. The pro-polygamy movement noted this uncited use of Mr. Henkel's quote in a September 4, 2007, op-ed sent to the media, titled, NY Times Uses Quote but not Name of National Polygamy Rights Leader. As that op-ed noted, the Famiy Research Council's Tony Perkins responded to the NY Times article. As noted, "In a July 26, 2007, radio commentary, FRC’s president, Tony Perkins, stated, 'In a Newsweek article… polygamist Mark Henkel explained the basis of his argument for "polygamist rights:" If Heather can have two mommies, she should also be able to have two mommies and a daddy. A family scholar Elizabeth Marquardt explains in a recent op-ed for the New York Times, the courts are redefining parenthood in a way that makes the legal acceptance of Henkel's argument all but inevitable.'" Whereas the New York Times chose the unprofessional method of not citing Mr. Henkel's name for the sound-bite, the Family Research Council chose the professional method of correctly attributing the sound-bite to Mr. Henkel.
