Realizing that the world cannot see and hear TRUTH neither are they therein sanctified, the world's reaction to Jesus and what they would call His so-called "cult" makes sense. No matter which way, the world will mock and ridicule. Jesus indicated this in Matthew 11:18-19: "John ((the Baptist)) came neither eating nor drinking, and they ((i.e., the world)) say, He hath a devil. The son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold, a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children."
Thus, the world would have us all in confusion. That is why manmade doctrines have run rampant in and upon the world for centuries and centuries. The Great Deceiver uses confusion and manmade creeds, writings, and doctrines to keep man blinded from the TRUE God. Jesus explained this in Mark 8:33d-f: "Satan:... thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men." Showing how that is true, our Lord exposed that link by the hypocrisy of the "educated" and "religious leaders", in Mark 7:7-8a, saying: "Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men".
Accordingly, while simultaneously expressing woe unto such men of the world, our Lord and Saviour also warned us what to expect. Matthew 18:7: "Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!" But Christ Jesus gave His TRUE followers hope. He said in John 16:33: "These things have I spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." Alleluia!
Yet, any one who is a "member" of what the world would call the so-called "cult" of CHRIST must prepare for the intense hatred. In Luke 21:17, our Lord foretold: "ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake." In John 7:7, our Lord explained just Who it is the world is hating: "The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil." Later in John 15:23, He even further explained the ultimate focus of the world's hatred: "He that hateth me hateth my Father also." In order to help His TRUE disciples understand their difference and separation from the world, our Lord and Saviour explained, in John 15:18-19: "If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you." Finally, Jesus warned us not to let the world's hatred affect or cause us to lose our salvation, saying in Matthew 10:22: "And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved." (Thank you Lord Jesus!) Alleluia!
So you see, the world hates the Father. It, therefore, hates Jesus who testified of it and its evil works. Accordingly, the world hates the TRUE Christian disciples, the TRUE Children of the LORD. Because the world called our Lord and Saviour "mad", as well as all TRUE prophets, the world will do the same to His TRUE disciples. Jesus gave His prophets and TRUE disciples the following uplifting hope, in Matthew 5:11-12: "Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. REJOICE, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you." Praise the LORD!
