Anyone who is truly called to serve (or even follow) the LORD is most apt to be called "mad" or "insane" by the world and all its darkness. The more dedicated to God, then the more the world will call such a TRUE Child of God as being beyond "fanatical" and closer to (if not directly labelled) "insane". Of course, this is not new. In fact, every TRUE Child of the LORD must expect to be so labelled. After all, the world called our Lord and Saviour that too!
After Jesus had finished teaching that He was/is the "Good Shepherd", many of the Jews said, "He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him?" (John 10:20b.) Note that, by calling Him "mad", they were attempting to persuade people not to "hear Him". They were simply trying to discredit Jesus.
Indeed, by today's supposed "standards", many things that our Lord did would be used by the world to try to discredit Him ---thus, trying to persuade others not to "hear Him".
