"Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:
"Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid." (Isaiah 29:13-14.)
"Who is the wise man, that may understand this? and who is he to whom the mouth of the LORD hath spoken, that he might declare it"? (Jeremiah 9:12a-d.)
"Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?"
"For it is written ((in Isaiah 29:14e-f)), I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent." (1_Corinthians 1:20,19.)
Hereby does the Lord GOD "proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder"! (Isaiah 29:14[c]-f.) "Let the saints be joyful in glory"! (Psalm 149:5a.) Hear this O you saints, "of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto ((His beloved)) wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption." ((1_Corinthians 1:30.) Therefore, "He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord." (1_Corinthians 1:31c-d.)
Wherefore, "That no flesh should glory in his presence" (1_Corinthians 1:29), "the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For ye see your calling, ((you "who are the called according to his purpose" --<Romans 8:28[b]-->)), how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are". (1_Corinthians 1:25-26a,c-28.)
