Greetings in the love of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!
I know that there are those who read these writings at my own hand who find themselves in terror from the boldness of the words written. But let it be known, I would "That I may NOT seem as if I would terrify you by letters. "For his letters, say they, are weighty and powerful". (2_Corinthians 10:9-10c.)
When people have met me after reading these writings, the repeated proclamation is surprise at the manifestation of humility and grace in my presence from what they had expected. One has said that he would that my humility and grace in presence be brought out moreso in such writings. The words have been spoken to me, by one who has met me in person, that those who are readers only of these writings may even possibly be deprived of witnessing such humility and grace in my person.
I have besought the Lord on this. Yet am I to obey Him. (Who am I to instruct the Lord?) Indeed, I am only to perform that which He Will Who has said, "My grace is sufficient for thee' (2_Corinthians 12:9b). If God would work a work in this my tabernacle, I will obey for love.
Still, the Lord is merciful and gracious. Praise the LORD! And He has permitted me a testimony wherein may the manifestation of grace be witnessed by those who are readers only of these writings at my own hand.
But also is it true that the matter of doctrine, to be discussed henceforth, will cause alarm among many. Let such not be proud in their assumed knowledge. "But ((God)) giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble." (James 4:6.)
Indeed, may such be comforted with the peace and grace of God that they would read on to the conclusion hereof, with all confidence in God. But still, in truth, do I have compassion on the many who, after they have read this writing unto its conclusion, will and do say, "This is an hard saying; who can hear it?" (John 6:60d-e.) Let such and all be comforted by the word of the LORD, "Thus saith the LORD the maker thereof, the LORD that formed it, to establish it; the LORD is his name;
"Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, WHICH THOU KNOWEST NOT." (Jeremiah 33:2-3.)
